Exis Technologies, Ltd., is the leading developer of computerized systems for the management of dangerous goods in sea transport. Exis has over 21 years experience of supporting major shipping lines, distributors and warehouse operators, ports and terminals, government and regulatory organizations worldwide. Their specialist teams combine chemistry, hazardous materials expertise, computer programming, quality assurance, and project management skills that deliver the most efficient and user-friendly systems available.
Exis supplies a complete range of products backed by technical support and consulting services. Among those products are Hazcheck Systems, IMDG Code compliance software.
- Hazcheck Lite contains the full IMDG Code Dangerous Goods List, searchable by UN Number or Proper Shipping Name in English, French, and Spanish. Searches by Proper Shipping Name will return a list of possible matches, with their UN Number linking to the list of variations with their classes and other details. Searches by UN Number go directly to the variants list if the number is valid. Hazcheck Lite is free for registered members.
- Hazcheck Online is the subscription-based Internet facility for shippers of dangerous goods. It is especially useful for occasional consignments and for document generation and transmission without the need for an in-house system. Users can check, add, and delete substances as they build a load, arriving at the best solutions in compliance with IMDG Code requirements; all much quicker and more accurately than with manual methods.
- Hazcheck Workstation displays key information for selected substances, validates a mixed load for IMDG Code segregation compliance, displays relevant packaging options, and contains the full English language IMDG Code text. It also allows the user to produce a valid and correct Multimodal Dangerous Goods Declaration (a.k.a. “IMO Dec.”). Hazcheck Workstation is a great tool for streamlining HAZMAT shipment.
- Hazcheck Professional is the efficient management tool for dangerous goods processing in ferry and containership feeder operations. Ship operators can quickly check loads for IMDG Code compliance, ship and port restrictions and can monitor stowage and segregation on board and produce a Dangerous Goods Manifest and reports. Hazcheck Professional is especially useful in ferry ‘turn up and sail’ DG acceptance. Hazcheck Professional includes the full text of the English language IMDG Code and Supplement.
- Hazcheck Enterprise is the most powerful and comprehensive DG booking and management system available for global containership operations. From initial DG acceptance checks through to interfacing with ship planning, it meets the demands of high-volume multi-leg schedules. Hazcheck Enterprise generates reports and industry-standard EDI messages for port notification and partner-line operations. When integrated with Hazcheck Gateway Internet booking it eliminates slow, costly re-keying of technical data and supports operations staff at every stage of DG processing.
- Hazcheck Gateway USA allows agents, shippers, receivers, or any authorized party to easily check their DG consignments against the requirements of the IMDG Code and the vessel-applicable parts of the US Hazmat Regulations (49 CFR). Gateway may also be modified to include restrictions specific to particular vessels or ports. Once validated, Gateway will send those consignments as an e-mail “booking” request. An attached EDI Dangerous Goods Declaration eliminates re-keying of information. Users are able to perform segregation checks and easily access stowage requirements for each load. Hazcheck Gateway usually stands alone as a secure internet site, but can be attached to a current website and/or interfaced with a booking system. There is no limit to number of users for Hazcheck Gateway. Pricing is based on estimated TEUs annually.
- Hazcheck Toolkits makes available the tools and data required for a custom-built IMDG compliance solution. Toolkits is comprised of three main components: the IMDG Code substance database (also called the Dangerous Goods List, or DGL), the Hazcheck Libraries containing supporting files for solutions written in popular programming languages, and the Hazcheck Web Libraries for solutions delivered as intranet or web-based applications.

Exis is the system developer of the electronic International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG Code) suite of products for the International Maritime Organization (IMO)
- IMDG Code for Windows contains the full text of the IMDG Code, including Supplement, as a program installed on the user’s computer. The English, French, and Spanish translations are all contained in the same program. The text is searchable and contains cross-links to references within the Code. The Dangerous Goods List is searchable by UN number and Proper Shipping Name. A form is included to easily generate a Dangerous Goods Note. The IMDG Code for Windows activates on only one computer per license; a limited trail edition is available.
- IMDG Code for Intranet carries over all of the features of the IMDG Code for Windows. Designed for large user base applications, the Intranet version installs on a server and is accessible via an intranet using a web browser.
- IMDG Code e-Learning is a computer-based training course designed specifically to satisfy the training requirements of the IMDG Code. The IMDG Code (as of Amdt. 34-08) mandates General Awareness and Function-specific training. IMDG e-Learning fulfills these requirements by providing general awareness training, and allowing the student to configure the course to cover only the job functions the student performs. This flexibility ensures that students receive only the training they’re required to have in those areas.
The course teaches students how to use the IMDG Code, and so requires the student to have access to a copy of the IMDG Code. IMDG e-Learning can detect if the computer-based code is installed, and will provide links to references in the code during the training courses.
IMDG e-Learning is endorsed by IMO for compliance with the above training provisions. It is also certified in accordance with the Det Norske Veritas Standard for Certification of Learning Programmes, ensuring the quality of training it provides.
IMDG e-Learning is priced per activation. Each initial training or re-training will require one activation per student. IMDG e-Learning is priced to be much more cost effective than in-person training.
