IMDG Code e-Learning is an IMDG computer-based training course. As of January 1, 2010, the IMDG Code mandates training for shore-side staff involved in the transport of dangerous goods by sea. IMDG Code e-Learning is a flexible, quality, cost-effective solution to meeting this requirement. At the moment, eight of the top twenty container lines have implemented IMDG Code e-learning for tens of thousands of staff worldwide.
The course covers General Awareness and Function-Specific training as required by the IMDG Code. For a larger-scale deployment (50+ students), a company training administrator is able to configure the course for individual students so that training is tailored to the functions that student performs. Administrators also are able to monitor progress, access training records, define the minimum passing grade, and set time limits for completion of training.
Optional 49 CFR module
As of April 2010, IMDG Code e-Learning includes an optional 49 CFR module to add on to the IMDG course. This is essentially a two-for-one: at the end of the course, students will have a certificate for IMDG training as well as 49 CFR (vessel) training.
