Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations (49 CFR) contains regulations dealing with transportation, mostly written by the US Department of Transportation (DOT).

Parts 100 to 185 of 49 CFR govern “the offering of hazardous materials for transportation and transportation of hazardous materials in… commerce by rail car, aircraft, motor vehicle, and vessel.” These regulations are often referred to as the “Hazmat Regs” or “HMR.”
